On the 17th of January 2024, under the leadership of our chairman Dr. Innocent Nahabwe, we held a valuable and constructive meeting with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). The session, attended by UCC Executive Director, was an opportunity to address key concerns and share insights from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).
Key Outcomes
We are particularly pleased with UCC’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for the growth and development of the broadcasting industry in Uganda. The meeting highlighted several important aspects:
- Regulatory Standards: UCC emphasized their dedication to maintaining regulatory standards that ensure the broadcasting industry operates smoothly and ethically.
- Innovation and Quality Content: Both UCC and NAB recognize the importance of promoting innovation and delivering high-quality content to the public. There is a shared responsibility to balance regulatory adherence with creative freedom.
- Industry Growth: UCC’s commitment to supporting the industry’s growth was evident. This includes providing a framework that encourages development while safeguarding public interests.
Future Engagements
The session underscored the need for ongoing dialogue and collaboration between UCC and NAB. We look forward to further engagements aimed at amicably resolving any issues we face as an industry. Continuous cooperation will be key to overcoming challenges and driving the broadcasting sector forward.
